We did the 6-week on-leash course with our 2-year old 96lb Northern Inuit dog, who is pretty stubborn and smart. We had issues mainly with walking behavior (pulling), obedience, and separation anxiety. Over the course of 6 weeks, Jesse did a great job at tackling these issues. Jesse uses lots of rewards and praises to encourage good behavior and he was very affectionate and sweet with our dog - it is very clear Jesse is a huge dog-lover, and our dogs felt very, very comfortable around him every time. Importantly, Jesse devoted a lot of his training in teaching US how to correctly handle our dog. It does not help much when a trainer focuses on the dog for the duration of the lesson, as often times it is the owners who need to learn and change, and Jesse definitely focused on this in each lesson, providing lots of examples of how to correct the behavior in a variety of situations - Jesse is great at teaching by showing how, and then coaching us as we try to repeat, and he is VERY patient. The lessons started with small tasks and commands (sit, down, place, etc.), and each week he would give us "homework" and an agenda planner where we would fill in what we accomplished, duration of our trainings, etc. This helped with staying on track, and to review at the end of each week the overall progress that was being made. The more advanced lessons were saved for the final weeks, and we feel very prepared to continue to practice these lessons on our own. Jesse is also available for quick questions and follow ups, so it is very clear to us he is a trainer who is committed to the long run success of his clients. Overall, we are very pleased and satisfied with the experience!
We've had five successful GSD rescues over many years and have hired several trainers. I am happy to say Jesse was the best informed, most practical trainer I have ever worked with! And yes, you can teach "old" dogs and older owners' new tricks. Jessie quickly assessed what Belle needed, and she got it!

Our 100lb golden retriever puppy needed fine tuning to take walks without pulling, relax in crowds, and not mow over the grandchildren when they visit. Jess brilliantly analyzed the challenges and helped retrained me. After three sessions I am so proud to bring Dash anywhere and have family over. Well done Jess!
